The Archive Team

2023 was a year of incredible growth for branded resale. We are thrilled to highlight some of the amazing achievements of our brand partners, as well as share some fun Archive data in our first annual year in review.

HIGHLIGHTS:

We launched resale programs for 23 brands in categories spanning apparel, footwear, accessories, kids, home, & outdoor gear.

We are now live with brands in 7 countries.

We also launched with our first partners in the UK and France — and are continuing to expand globally.

The Archive team expanded to support a growing roster of global brands. From Burlington to Brooklyn, Atlanta to Austin, our team is united towards our mission of keeping goods in circulation and out of landfills.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Our team nearly doubled, with 18 new employees.

We work fully remote from 17 different cities across 12 states, and moved into a bigger NYC office twice.

We held a team off-site in Austin, where we learned we are quite talented at line dancing, and in New Orleans, where we jazzed it up and ate our weight in beignets.

We were thrilled to have the broader industry take note of how the accessibility and pervasiveness of resale is changing consumer behavior.

HIGHLIGHTS:

We won some exciting awards - WWD's 25 Most Inspirational Women Leaders, Modern Retail Awards, 2023 SMBTech50, The Lead's The Leading 100 List, CommerceTech Power List, and WWD's Most Influential ESG Leaders.

And were included in 120+ articles across 45 publications including Forbes, Business of Fashion, Vogue Business, Sourcing Journal, InStyle, WWD, and Fast Company.

We were recognized on a Times Square billboard three times and rang the NASDAQ bell twice

We not only saw new brands enter the resale space for the first time in 2023, but we also saw brands scale existing programs into new resale models and leverage new inventory sources. We are thrilled that many of our partners will be expanding geographically in 2024!

HIGHLIGHTS:

In 2023, 73% of sellers across our peer-to-peer marketplaces chose gift cards over cash.

Across our peer-to-peer resale marketplaces, the average seller listed 7 items

One of our brand partners sold $1M of secondhand goods in a single month.

The top selling item: The North Face Arctic Parka

The fastest item sold: Djerf Avenue’s Occasion Top, which sold in 1 minute and 5 seconds.

The most expensive item sold: a replica of the Oscar de la Renta gown that Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the 2014 Met Gala. The piece sold in an auction for $7,500.

We launched a “Classifieds” feature for DVF that helped one customer find a piece she had been searching for for 10 years.

Our hearts were warmed by the sale of a 30-year-old Hanna Andersson piece on Hanna-Me-Downs.

We created a feature that allowed Marimekko to partner with local boutiques and verified vintage sellers to sell preloved pieces.

And we partnered with five brands, including DVF, Maje, Marimekko, Toad&Co, and Ulla Johnson, to sell secondhand items in their retail stores.

"We are so grateful to our team, brand partners, investors and advisors for their support in 2023. We are excited for what's to come in the new year, as we continue to innovate and build the best experiences in resale."
